When to book newborn photos?

To help ease some of the planning, many families choose to book their Maternity and Newborn sessions together. The Bump to Baby package is a beautiful way to document your journey into parenthood without the added stress of arranging everything last-minute. And while the first two weeks are often recommended for newborn photography due to those sleepy, curled-up poses, the truth is—there’s no such thing as being "too late" for photos. Every mother heals differently, and every family finds their rhythm in their own time. Whether your baby is two weeks or two months old, there is still so much magic to capture. In fact, by eight weeks, we can often see the beginnings of those cheeky smiles and sparkling eyes. Whenever you feel ready, I’ll be there to gently document this chapter—because every moment is worth remembering.
Where does the newborn photography session take place?
Newborn photography sessions are usually held at your home in Sydney, including Pyrmont, Inner West, and surrounding areas (yes, I do travel and will come to you, no need to dread that car ride to a studio). No packing, no rushing - just your family in your own space, where everyone (especially baby!) feels safe and settled (Saying this, if you would like to head out to your favorite park or another meaningful location to you, I am all hands in, it just requires bringing in extra nappies/wipes/change of clothes).

How to Book a Newborn Photoshoot in Sydney
Booking a newborn photoshoot in Sydney is designed to be simple and calm — just like the session itself. Everything is arranged around your baby and your family, with no pressure and no rigid timelines.
Step 1 — Get in touch
Start by reaching out through my contact form to enquire about availability. Most families book their newborn photography session during pregnancy to ensure a spot in those early weeks, but last-minute enquiries are always welcome.
Step 2 — Gentle planning
Once your session is confirmed, we’ll plan everything together. I’ll guide you through what to expect, what to wear, and how to prepare your home (nothing complicated, I promise). These in-home newborn photography sessions are designed to fit naturally into your day, so your baby can stay comfortable and settled.
Step 3 — Your session at home
On the day, I travel to you anywhere across Sydney. The session is relaxed, baby-led, and unhurried — with time for feeding, settling, and simply being together. There’s no need for props or posing; I gently document your connection, your rhythm, and those fleeting early moments as they naturally unfold.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Not much at all! I am not only a newborn photographer in Sydney, I am a mother of two, as well, and I do not want to add extra stress to your life. I’ll send you a full guide before your newborn photography session, and I work with what you already have: your soft blankets, your favourite chair, and your baby’s everyday beauty. No props or particular styling is necessary for warm newborn photographs, unless you'd like to include something meaningful (and please grandma with that teddy picture she specifically bought for your baby).
Pets, however, are welcome to join if you have some :)
What if my newborn cries or doesn’t cooperate?
That’s completely normal and totally okay. My sessions are unhurried and baby-led. Whether we need breaks for feeds, cuddles, or nappy changes, we take everything at your family’s pace.
What if my baby is older than 2 weeks for newborn photographs?
That’s absolutely fine. While newborn photography is often done within the first two weeks, I photograph babies of all ages, including older newborns and young infants.
In fact, many families book their newborn photoshoot a little later, once they’ve had time to settle into life at home. Your baby may be more alert, expressive, and engaged, which brings a different kind of beauty to your images — more eye contact, more interaction, and more of your baby’s emerging personality.
My approach to newborn photography in Sydney is always relaxed and baby and mum focused, so there’s no strict timeline. Whether your baby is 10 days or 6–8 weeks old, the focus remains the same: natural connection, gentle moments, and capturing your family as you are in this season.
